Branding, App Design & Development
The role for this project served as Product Owner (PO) for a Scrum team, overseeing the design, development, and launch of the Walmart ASPP and Amazon DSPP mobile apps on both Apple’s App Store and Google Play. The PO created and managed the product backlog and roadmap, guiding the team's efforts throughout the process. The PO regularly met with the President of Plans Management to review and prioritize business requirements and feature development. The PO was actively involved in the creation of app designs, detailed logic flows, and host mapping documents.
Collaborated closely with Walmart and Amazon's brand teams to ensure each app faithfully reflected the unique brand identity for their associates and employees.
Engaged with Walmart and Amazon's UX teams throughout the design and testing process to deliver a great user experience for associates with plan shares. As Product Owner and UX Manager, the role directly led the design team and was hands-on in much of the design work.
As the Product Owner for the Scrum team, the role led the project from inception to the successful launch of the Amazon DSPP mobile app in 2020. The team included a Scrum Master, BAs, Designers, Developers, and Testers.
While serving as UX Team Lead and Product Owner, the role kept key stakeholders, including the Head of Plans, regularly updated on progress, with bi-weekly meetings. The role also created promotional videos to help Marketing understand our goals and to promote the app.
The mobile apps were successfully launched one after the other, each maintaining a 4.5-star rating or higher, with over 80k downloads across platforms. The product owner's involvement was crucial in getting the Walmart Associate Stock app approved for distribution in the regular Apple App Store, despite Apple's initial insistence on restrictive distribution methods. This approval was essential for reaching a wide audience of employees.
